Morgan
Smock has represented corporate and individual clients in a variety
of litigated matters involving the purchase and sale of securities;
corporate control and shareholder disputes; complex commercial transactions,
class actions, directors and officers' insurance coverage; and disputes
among partners and joint venturers. He joined us on September 8,
2003.
Mr.
Smock also has extensive experience in representing the business
interests of national Internet real estate brokerage companies. He
is familiar with the complex issues such companies face, including
compliance with federal and state regulation of real estate brokerage,
compliance with the Multiple Listing Service policies of the National
Association of Realtors, and responding to anti-competitive actions
by entrenched competitors.
Mr.
Smock began practicing law in 1990 with the firm of Pillsbury Winthrop
LLP in San Francisco (formerly known as Pillsbury, Madison &
Sutro). After becoming a partner at Pillsbury in 2001, he decided
to return to his Minnesota roots and joined us in September 2003.
Mr. Smock graduated from Yale University in 1985, receiving his
B.A. in Economics and Political Science. He received his law degree
in 1990 from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall
School of Law), where he was Associate Editor of the California
Law Review.
